What is Latakia Tobacco?
Latakia Pipe Tobacco E-liquid is made from Latakia tobacco which is a type of fermented tobacco that is grown in the eastern Mediterranean region, specifically in the countries of Syria and Cyprus. It is known for its distinctive flavor and aroma, which is often described as smoky, woody, and slightly spicy. Latakia tobacco is used in a variety of tobacco products, including cigarettes, pipe tobacco, and cigars.
The Process
The process of producing Latakia tobacco begins with the cultivation of tobacco plants. The plants are grown in the hot, dry climate of the eastern Mediterranean region and are allowed to mature until they are ready to be harvested. Once the tobacco leaves have been harvested, they are carefully selected and sorted according to quality. The leaves are then sun-dried for a period of several weeks, during which time they turn a deep brown color and begin to develop their distinctive flavor and aroma.
After the sun-drying process is complete, the tobacco leaves are placed in a barn or other enclosed structure and are subjected to a process of smoke-curing using wood fires. This process takes place over a period of several weeks and involves the use of wood fires that are fueled by a variety of hardwoods, including oak, cedar, and juniper. As the tobacco leaves are exposed to the smoke from the wood fires, they absorb the smoky flavors and aromas, which gives Latakia tobacco its distinctive taste and smell.
Once the smoke-curing process is complete, the tobacco leaves are allowed to age and further develop their flavor and aroma. This process can take several months or even years, depending on the desired characteristics of the final product. When the tobacco is ready, it is carefully sorted and prepared for use in various tobacco products.
The Flavour
Latakia tobacco is known for its strong, smoky flavor and aroma, which is often described as being similar to the smell of a campfire. It is often used in small amounts as a component of other tobacco blends, as its strong flavor can be overpowering when used on its own. In addition to its use in cigarettes, pipe tobacco, and cigars, Latakia tobacco is also used in the production of snuff and other smokeless tobacco products.
Cold Extraction Process
After leaf selection, our master blenders cold macerate the tobacco leaf blend for between 5-9 weeks, stirring them daily to ensure a full-bodied flavour.
We then use an 8-stage natural filtration process to remove all the tobacco leaves from the final liquid concentrate.

Ive been vaping since 2007. In that time i have tried hundreds of liquids, and i make my own regularly. With concern to naturally extracted tobacco liquids i have spent the last year trying every brand i can find, to try to get a liquid that actually tasted close to a cigarette.
As ive been going through the various flavours here at the Drakes brand, each time i profess the latest one i try as my favourite. They are that good. This flavour however, is the closest to an actual ciggie i have ever tried, from any brand anywhere.
Its strong flavour is very smokey and robust, but it also has a bitterness that satisfies. Many liquids end up being sweet, but this only has a small aftertaste of sweetness. The bulk of the flavour is pure tobacco and dryness.
I highly recommend this liquid. Its a strong flavour and is not for everyone. But for me, its the best there is.

In search for the perfect N.E.T. blend I’ve come a step closer. As a cigarette smoker for 40 years I’m nearly there. You Scandinavian smokers here will know what I’m talking about. Red Prince. Latakia is the missing piece. Too strong by itself, sorry Anna, it’s perfect for blending. I tried the Cavendish mixed with 20% Latika and got a fantastic flavour. That is, there is hardly no flavour at all. Just like my cigarettes. If this sounds crazy, let me explain. I am a new vaper trying to get off smoking. As I suspect most smokers want is to get as close to the taste of our old familiar flavours as we can and to be honest, they don’t taste that much. I was told that this isn’t going to happen. Going through a bunch of syntetic “Tobacco” flavours , they are just distgusting, and not really that keen on “Appletart and Strawberry Custard with Cherryvanilla Iceream on green Melon with Cookie Butter ” I nearly gave up. Enter N.E.T. And Drakes. Thank you! It will take a while to find my perfect blend and I’m still trying. But with the Latakia I have the perfect strong, and I do mean strong, base to mix with the other flavours. As Anna said, this is the taste of pure tobacco and dryness. If you are in search of tobacco taste in it’s purest form this is the one. Highly recommended!

This is fabulous stuff from Drake’s. Strong, dark, complex and really smoky. That Latakia “wood smoke” flavour really comes through strongly on every hit, but not in a way that’s harsh or overpowering, they’ve balanced it well. It’s aromatic and herby underneath the smoke too…what is that, thyme, bay leaf, marjoram? It’s a evocative of being on a hillside in Greece in summer under the stars, smelling the scent of wood smoke and Mediterranean herbs in the breeze.
It’s strong stuff, I wouldn’t vape it as an ADV tobacco. One to savour slowly in the evenings, I’ll be pairing it with a glass of smoky Islay malt whisky in the evenings by the fire this winter!
I’ve been making my own tobacco mixes from off-the-shelf DIY concentrates for 3 years now but I’ll never be able to make anything that comes close to the smoky complexity of this NET!
Tested in: Berserker MTL RDA. 1.1ohm, 13 watts. It’s a very dark juice. NETs are hard on coils and wicks, but this one even more so. I’ve been rewicking and cleaning after 5ml as the coil is black and the flavour is turning funky by then, so I’d recommend RDAs rather than tanks.

i would like to add to my previous review of shortfill latakia……….although too strong by itself, with more experience i have found it to be a wonderful mixer – just a small squirt will improve any and all of my other tobacco liquids giving a delightful smooth and rounded smokey taste.
like other reviewers of drakes products i also feel that i have now found the perfect vape and would encourage others to give drakes a try – you won’t regret it.

This is a very good blend, with just enough Virginia to lighten the Latakia enough for a strong but not overpowering vape. It’s very woody, very smokey and slightly peppery on the nose – unmistakably Latakia. For me it’s more of an evening vape than an all day vape, but I’ll enjoy the odd e-pipe of this in the garden too. Dryer and less sweet than I expected, i was expecting slightly more of a woody sweetness within the smokeyness, and whilst there is a herbal note to the smoke there’s not the slightly incense quality to the top notes that I associate with Latakia. Very good, but missing some of the subtler notes I’d have expected. It’s good as a mixer with some of Drake’s superb Perique, and will probably work with their Cavendish that’s on my must try list…

Smoky, robust, not so sweet. Very nice especially in the evening. If you come from pipe smoking this should do it for you. Recommended!

What is the meaning of Latakia tobacco?
noun. lat·a·kia ˌla-tə-ˈkē-ə : a highly aromatic Turkish smoking tobacco.
It is mild and aromatic,, spicy, woody, dry and not so sweet. For me it’s lovely. If you like this combo most probably it’s for you too.
