Drake’s St James Perique E-liquid 50ml Short Fill

St James Perique is a famous variety of tobacco grown exclusively in Saint James Parish, Louisiana, USA famed for it’s strong, powerful, and fruity aroma.

Originally cultivated by the native Coctawand and Chicasaw tribes. A local farmer named Pierre Chenet is credited with first processing the tobacco through the labour-intensive method of pressure fermentation in 1824.

Cold Extraction Process

After leaf selection, our master blenders cold macerate the tobacco leaf blend for between 5-9 weeks, stirring them daily to ensure a full-bodied flavour.

We then use an 8 stage natural filtration process to remove all the tobacco leaf from the final liquid concentrate.

A stunning liquid, but not your everyday vape.

I bought this mainly to blend with other flavours, and it is wonderful mixed with Drake’s Latakia blend and Drake’s Balkan Blend to replicate similar flavours to classic English pipe blends. I was however interested in trying it on it’s own…

It’s got all the qualities I associate with Perique – it’s a very rich full-flavoured tobacco with a unique character. On the inhale there’s a butterscotch flavour – quite sweet with a hint of vanilla, that might appeal to those who’ve been making do with RY4 type liquids, but obviously much more complex. There’s also a definite sherry like note that comes through (maybe more like a sherry-forward Speyside?) and a slight pepper element. The pepper element is more noticeable on the exhale with a definite nose tingle and herbal (maybe aniseed ?) edge. It’s a very rich but complex flavour.

On it’s own it’s sublime with a morning coffee, and I thought I’d found my perfect all day vape, but it’s just too rich for me to vape for long periods. Mixing it with 50% Burley gave me something closer to an all day vape, but I need to experiment – there’s no doubt I’ll want some of this in my perfect mix. For now it was worth buying a dedicated tank so that I can just thoroughly enjoy it undiluted as an occasional treat. Either way I consider it an essential purchase.
