Balkan Tobacco Blend E-Liquid
Drake’s Balkan Tobacco Blend E-Liquid is made from a blend of tobacco that is traditionally made using a combination of Latakia, Oriental, and Virginia tobaccos. It is known for its strong, rich flavor and is often used in the production of pipe tobacco and other tobacco products.
The origins of Balkan pipe tobacco can be traced back to the late 19th century when it was first developed by tobacco blenders in the Balkans region of Europe. The blend was originally created as a way to replicate the flavor of Turkish tobacco, which was highly prized by European tobacco enthusiasts at the time.
The process of producing Balkan pipe tobacco begins with the cultivation of tobacco plants. The plants are typically grown in the eastern Mediterranean region and are allowed to mature until they are ready to be harvested. Once the tobacco leaves have been harvested, they are carefully selected and sorted according to quality.
Processing
After the tobacco leaves have been harvested, they are subjected to a process of curing and fermentation. This process involves the use of heat and moisture to dry the tobacco leaves and bring out their natural flavors and aromas, and it also involves the use of a fermentation process to further develop the flavor and aroma of the tobacco. The curing and fermentation process takes place over a period of several weeks or months, depending on the desired characteristics of the final product.
Once the curing and fermentation process is complete, the tobacco leaves are carefully sorted and blended according to the specific recipe used to make Balkan pipe tobacco. The blend typically consists of Latakia tobacco, which is known for its strong, smoky flavor; Oriental tobacco, which is known for its spicy, aromatic flavor; and Virginia tobacco, which is known for its sweet, mild flavor.
Flavour Profile
Balkan pipe tobacco is known for its strong, rich flavor, which is often described as being similar to the taste of dark chocolate or coffee. It is often used as the primary component in pipe tobacco and other products that require a strong, bold flavor. In addition to its use in pipe tobacco, Balkan tobacco is also used in the production of cigarettes, and chewing tobacco.

Cold Extraction Process
After leaf selection, our master blenders cold macerate the tobacco leaf blend for between 5-9 weeks, stirring them daily to ensure a full-bodied flavour.
We then use an 8-stage natural filtration process to remove all the tobacco leaves from the final liquid concentrate.
Extracted from 100% Authentic Real Tobacco Leaf!
All of the tobacco extracts come from non-GMO farms from around the world, we process them at our UK-based lab in Lincolnshire, under license from HMRC since 2017, and our 10ml nicotine range is fully registered with the MHRA.

Richard –
I was a pipesmoker for many years and Balkan mixtures were my go to tobaccos of choice. On finding Drake’s produced a Balkan blend e-liquid I couldn’t wait to try it. Opening the bottle to add a nicotine shot the smell of the latakia already came through. Not everyone will like the woody smoky scent of latakia, but for fans of classic Balkan and English tobacco blends it’s wonderful. My first few puffs instantly reminded me of the long discontinued Dunhill/Murray ‘London Mixture’ – the prominent woody smokiness of the Latakia not quite over-powering the spiciness of the orientals on the inhale with a little sweetness from the Virginia coming through on the exhale. Strongly flavoured but well balanced, and not too heavy to vape all day. I’d left my tank half full overnight and it was even better the following morning, a little more sweetness coming through and the complexity of the orientals more noticeable. Dialing the airflow on my tank right down helped even more. This is a liquid that needs to be vaped slowly and on a relatively high ohm set up. Definitely one for MTL vapers rather than cloud chasers.
My perfect Balkan blend would exactly recreate my memories of the old 1980s Balkan Sobranie in my favourite pipe. The orientals aren’t quite there, but it comes pretty close to what’s probably an overly rosy memory. This really is a good blend, and anyone who’s hunting something that captures the essence of the classic Balkan blends should give this a try.
